One Day, One Thousand Finds

From: Drew Family (drewclan@aol.com) | Date: 2004-04-29 20:53:33 UTC
Well, almost...if 90-something people each find 8 boxes in a mass
letterboxing frenzy, is that some kind of record?

We're lucky enough to live in one of the state's best school
districts, and our middle school educators really outdid themselves
this year. Ned's 7th grade teachers spent a rainy day last week
planting 10 boxes in Connecticut's Rocky Neck State Park and today
brought the class out for some teambuilding, fresh air, and fun. And
what fun! We tromped all over that park and left with big smiles on
our faces.

I'm sorry to report that the boxes were removed after the event,
since I'm sure people would have loved finding them, but if any
educators here on the list are interested in learning about the
development of a letterboxing curriculum for middle schoolers, please
drop me a note. I'll forward it on to the amazing people that made my
day.

That sounds fun... we went to find the "fab four" in Essex last week and couldn't seem to find the "castle rock" or the "geodetic marker" boxes.. any more clues?

Hello from Milwaukee,

Yes, I am intersted to present letterboxing to my students. I teach in a Waldorf school so I stay with my students from year to year. We are going into the 5th grade next year and see a place for riddles and the Parsival search for boxes. We are avaid campers and hikers in the class and would love the challenge. What did you do?

Recently I told you of the interest in my 11th graders to spend a
saturday with their English teacher letterboxing. Well, now our art
teacher is going to have one of her classes design stamps in class. As
a fun activity to get started, they are going to hide their own
letterboxes somewhere on the school property (58 acres) and try to find
each other's. This will be a great way for them to "get the bug." I'm
speaking to the class on Tuesday about Letterboxing.

Yes, I'd like to hear too. Could be helpful in planning our letterbox
"course" at GS camp.
